Engineering Manager (Digital Banking)

About the position

As a new initiative, Money Forward has begun considering the provision of BaaS/digital banking in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager.

This role expects a strong security mindset, with a clear understanding of data privacy, credential protection, device security, and the responsible use of corporate systems, tools, and accounts.

Responsibilities

• Lead the team to develop the digital bank system from scratch
• Overall project management including planning, tracking, risk management, stakeholder management, quality assurance etc.
• Build and manage development teams across three countries: Japan, India, and Vietnam
• Build & tracking engineering process follow Scrum/Agile framework
• Taking responsibility for Scrum Master of the team
• Regularly communicate with development team members to resolve technical issues, manage progress, and ensure quality
• Participate in system design, contribute to system architecture, and handle integrations with third parties.
• Review code, provide insights, and set up coding standards for the project.
• Design system operations and maintenance with a view from the development stage to post-release
• After release, efficiently and safely conduct additional system development, operations, and maintenance
• Ensure regular reports to management

Your Skills and Experience

Requirements / Qualifications

• Over 10 years of development experience and more than 3 years of engineering management experience / project management
• Practical experience with Scrum/Agile framework
• Practical experience leading a development team of 30 or more members
• Experience in backend system development using Java or similar
• Experience in developing micro-services applications in Cloud environment
• Practical experience related to frontend technologies such as React or NodeJS
• Experience with authentication and authorization technologies like OAuth 2.0, OIDC
• Experience in system development and operation using cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
• Strong problem-solving skills and leadership
• Excellent English communication skill

Nice to haves

While not specifically required, tell us if you have any of the following.

• Experience in developing, operating, and maintaining mission-critical business systems in financial institutions (especially core banking systems)
• Knowledge and experience in collaboration with financial institutions and regulatory compliance (experience interacting with the Financial Services Agency is a plus)
• Project experience using Mambu
• Experience implementing continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD)
• Experience in building teams and operational flows based on DevOps culture
• Experience in AI development or development using AI tools
